As we understand it :
Project 42 is a piece of Innovation management software intended for use in a presentation environment, to be "driven" by a presenter/trainer. For most effective use it should form part of a programme for the development of innovation in organisations.
The programme is based on material researched over a two year period. Some of the material summarises factual results from controlled experiments about human interaction. Other elements of the material explore the ideas and approaches of senior managers to innovation in their own organisations.
The information is compiled into one extensive computer based multimedia CD ROM and forms the basis of a comprehensive range of workshops. Each workshop will explore various concepts from the material. The experiences and opinion of the workshop delegates will supplement the work of the presenter in providing a rich environment to develop new ideas relating to innovation. A series of workshops will support a gradual change in approach to innovation and leave delegates permanently wiser in an imaginative range of related concepts.
The thesis that this work addresses is that :
In general the information and the way it is presented attempts to promote good business practice in knowledge related issues by equipping senior managers with the information necessary for them to make more informed decision.
The subject areas are divided into unequal sections of
with information further sub-divided under those headings.
Much of the static content of P42 is also available on this site in the Cognition area.
During 1998-2000 we worked on an ADAPT ESF funded Innovation Management project. We were also provided with assistance from Blackburn Regeneration Partnership to help business. With financial help from these two sources and a result of feedback from an Innovation Management Seminar held at Blackburn Technology Management Centre in November 1999, we have been working to create a useable version of the experimental 'Innovation Analyser' software that was shown at that seminar.
The purpose of the software is to ask questions about Innovation Management. It should not be treated as a prescription for success. It can be however, a stepping stone in the move towards a more innovative organisation. Representing a small part of the work undertaken on the whole Innovation Management project, the Innovation Analyser includes input from many respected regional managers from the North West region and beyond. AKRI remains extremely grateful for the support provided by all those who have contributed to the project.
We are now able to offer a limited number of CD-ROMs (Windows 9.x compatible) for use in member companies.
