Introduction

Sections
The material available here is separated into six main sections. A brief explanation of each will be provided but the side menu bar allows direct access to each section in full. For full benefit from the material, it is recommended that the sections are studied in the order presented in this guide. The side access menu is made available to allow repeat users to dip in to the material as they see fit.
- 1 : About Interviews
- This section discusses the interview, its purpose and objectives. Types of interview and methods available are discussed.
- 2: About People
- Interviews are about people and this section takes a people centred approach to the interview. Some audio comment is included to help explain how people feel about interviews.
- 3 : The Knowledge
- This section utilises a learning resource based on the Knowledge Structure Map and created directly from the software tool used to develop the map. Some background to the ideas supporting this resource can be found in our paper on it.
- 4 : Issues
- There are always other things that can affect an interview. That is, things not directly concerned with the interview. This section considers some of these issues and uses cartoon characters to provoke thought and contemplation. View a Flash animation of the cartoon characters in a popup window.
- 5: Questions
- The idea that people may want direct help or advice from time to time, is considered here. A simple decision support resource exported from the KSM development tool provides a way to get some advice about interviews. Several typical questions give the user some idea about what to look for.
- 6 : Improving
- The final section tackles the question head on. Here, some advice is provided that may help people to become better interviewers. These things are presented to encourage thought.
